Lexus Swindon X Julia’s House Children Hospices

Here at Lexus Swindon, we’re honoured to support Julia’s House, a charity that means a great deal to many in our community. Julia’s House is dedicated to helping families of children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, and we’re especially proud to lend our support to their essential work. The charity's dedicated team of nurses and carers provide not only respite care for children, but also a lifeline of emotional, social and practical support for the entire family.

How Julia’s House Makes a Difference for Families

When a family receives the devastating news that their child has a serious illness, it impacts everyone. Julia’s House understands this and is committed to supporting families every step of the way. With a compassionate team of nurses and carers, they offer a range of vital services, including respite breaks, emotional support, and family-centred activities that give parents, siblings, and the children themselves a chance to breathe and feel supported.

“When a family finds out that their child has a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, their world falls apart,” Julia’s House shares. “We’re here to help both the children and their families during these challenging times.” Their support extends to the entire family, recognising that siblings often carry their own unique challenges as they navigate this difficult journey.

Supporting Siblings Through the Julia’s House Sibling Support Service

Julia’s House’s Sibling Support Service is one example of the charity’s commitment to family care. This programme ensures that siblings feel seen and valued by offering them a supportive space where they can relax, connect, and just enjoy being children. The service pairs each sibling with a dedicated Sibling Worker, who tailors activities to suit each child’s individual needs and interests. This allows siblings to escape the pressures of home life and enjoy carefree time with peers who truly understand their experiences.

Activities like group play days, archery sessions, and pampering events allow siblings to bond with others in similar situations, forming friendships and building memories that give them strength and comfort. Julia’s House also organises two-night residential stays, where siblings can connect, have fun, and support each other through shared experiences.

Lexus Swindon’s Commitment to Supporting Julia’s House

We at Lexus Swindon are thrilled to be part of the Julia’s House family. Since pledging our support in early 2024, we’ve been rolling up our sleeves and getting involved in every way we can. Our team took on a Half Marathon Hike through Wiltshire’s countryside, raising nearly £500. We also hosted a ‘Guess the Name of the Teddy’ competition and recently held a charity car wash, raising £720. Additionally, we’re proud to be corporate sponsors of Julia’s House’s Wiltshire Christmas Tree Recycling Campaign this winter

In addition, the Toyota and Lexus Community Fund recently pledged a generous £2,000 to support Julia’s House, ensuring they can continue their vital work across the region.

The Power of Community and How You Can Help

With only 8% of their funding coming from government sources, Julia’s House relies heavily on community support. “We rely on the support of our local community to help keep our vital service going,” Julia’s House explains. Whether it’s through fundraising events, corporate partnerships, or individual donations, every bit of help makes a difference.
