Most people who drive an electric car, or plug-in hybrid choose to charge at home or work the majority of the time. On longer journeys you can rely on charging your car at a public EV chargers in the growing network across the UK.

LEXUS PUBLIC CHARGING NETWORK

The Lexus Public Charging Network is a  subscription based model that gives you access to over 500,000 public charging points across Europe.

This network works in conjunction with Lexus Link+ providing you with the opportunity to manage all of your EV information in one place.

The network is provided by Digital Charging Solutions who have established the biggest charging network across Europe with over 500,000 EV chargers available, including thousands of public chargers in the UK.

SIMPLE PAYMENT

Customers have a choice of three subscription tariffs when signing up to the Lexus Public Charging Network. ‘Go’ supports drivers who need to use public charging only a few times per year. ‘Active’ is designed for drivers with limited access to home charging. ‘Active+’ provides long-distance and frequent drivers charge point access.

EASY ACCESS

Once subscribed, you can access the features within your Lexus Link+ app, giving you the ability to find and navigate to charge points near you, with useful information such as if the charger is in use plus you can view all the charging invoices at the end of each month.

There are a growing number of public EV chargers, with over 62,000** available across the UK. You can find public chargers at service stations, carparks, hotels and more. Some workplaces even offer onsite charging to make owning an electric car even more convenient.

 

Electric cars have enough range to cover your daily commute and short journeys, but it is useful to know where to find your nearest charger for longer journeys.

 

The Lexus Public Charging Network works in conjunction with Lexus Link+ and offers access to thousands of chargers across the UK providing a simple way to charge without having to download multiple apps.

 

You can also use third party apps, such as Zap-Map (Opens in new window) to help find your nearest public charger. This includes information on different public networks, charging methods and payment options.

All of our electric and plug-in hybrid cars come with a 3-pin AC charging cable for standard UK home sockets and a mode 3 AC charging cable for use with your dedicated fast charger at home or public fast chargers when on the go. 

 

All rapid charging points already have a cable attached meaning there is no need for you to use extra equipment. Any additional cables can be purchased from your Lexus Centre.

The time it take to charge an electric car or plug-in hybrid varies depending on the car and type of charger you use.

 

The RZ for example can charge in as little as approximately 30 minutes* from 0% - 80% on a 150kW rapid charger, meaning that when you do need to use a public charger, you can take a chance to stretch your legs and have a coffee before you restart your journey.

 

*Indicative charge time, for comparison purposes. Actual charging times may vary depending on various factors, including the age, type, condition and temperature of the charging unit and the battery, the starting charge and environmental conditions at the point of use. Charge times may be longer in colder weather and if battery temperature activates safeguarding technology. 150kW+ chargers are available in many locations in mainland Great Britain – see Zap Map (Opens in new window) for details. They are not yet available in Northern Ireland.

The most cost-effective way to charge an electric car is by charging at home, particularly when you take advantage of specific EV energy tariffs. 

 

The cost of charging at a public charger varies, some car parks offer charging for free, and as with petrol or diesel, charging an EV can cost more at motorway service stations.
