The range of an electric car is the distance you can expect to travel before having to recharge. The range of our electric cars is impressive, and the batteries in our electric cars are built to last.

WHAT IMPACTS RANGE?

HEATING AND COOLING

IN-CAR CLIMATE

Excessive use of air conditioning, or heating can consume significant battery power. To maximise efficiency, remotely pre-heat or cool your car whilst still plugged in using the Lexus Link + app. This way you are drawing energy from the mains supply rather than the car itself.

EXTERNAL FACTORS

OUTDOOR TEMPERATURE

Although out of your control, it is good to be aware that electric cars run less efficiently with a lower range in cooler temperatures as they consume more power to reach their optimum temperature. In contrast, they’re more efficient and have a greater range during warmer months.

JOURNEY STYLE

Whilst electric cars are suitable for every type of journey from cruising on the motorway to city escapades, journey type affects your range. Higher speeds consume more energy, whilst lower speeds allow the car to recover intermittently, using less energy and maximising range.

CONSIDERATE DRIVING

MINDFUL MOVEMENT

Manoeuvring your vehicle considerately will extend battery range. Gradual acceleration, particularly in heavy traffic, uses less energy to create a more efficient drive. Correct tyre inflation and regular air filter replacement helps to further improve efficiency.

How long does the battery last?

Lexus has over 20 years of experience of advanced battery technologies through development of Lexus Self-Charging Hybrid technology.

To give you peace of mind, in addition to our standard 3 year / 60,000 mile manufacturer warranty for the vehicle, we offer a standard 8 year/ 100,000 mile warranty (whichever comes first) on the electric battery for our electric cars. This is extendable to 10 years (or 600,000 miles, whichever comes first).
