GOVERNMENT EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM

On Sunday 23 April 2023 at 3pm, there will be a UK Government test of the Emergency Alerts service on mobile phones.

The UK government’s new Emergency Alerts system will warn you via your mobile phone in the event of life-threatening emergencies such as severe flooding in your area. This is a UK Government test and not a Lexus initiative.

If you receive an alert, you will hear a loud siren-like sound for up to 10 seconds and a message will appear on the screen until you acknowledge it.

Guidance

  • You do not need to take any action.
  • Please do not pick up your phone when driving. Drive legally at all times.
  • Continue driving as normal, staying in full control of your vehicle.
  • If you feel the need to look at your phone, you must find a safe and legal place to pull over first.

These alerts do not track your location, require your phone number, or collect personal data. Only the government and the emergency services will be able to send these alerts.
